The most common neurotoxins include Botox, Dysport and Xeomin, all of which are frequently used at About Face Medspa & Wellness.   Jeaveau joined this group in November, 2022.   These types of injectables are used to block targeted nerves from activating the facial muscles. Over time, repeated contractions of facial muscles can contribute to the formation of wrinkles and lines in the forehead, around the eyes, on the nose and neck, and near the mouth and chin.  Botox, Dysport and Xeomin temporarily relax the muscles causing the wrinkling leaving a smoother, refreshed appearance.

Beyond cosmetic purposes, we also sometimes treat migraines and hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) with these injectables.

Hyaluronic acid helps to keep the skin hydrated, supple, and youthful looking.  Aging and sun damage reduce the amount of natural hyaluronic acid in the skin, and once depleted, there is volume loss resulting in sagging and folds. Injectable dermal fillers tailored to a specific application and area can restore this lost volume and provide a more youthful appearance.

Sometimes there is not a problem area but a desired enhancement. Bellafill is the only dermal filler that stimulates collagen growth long term to help maintain your youthful appearance for up to 5 years. Bellafill is not included with our other   dermal fillers because it is not a hyaluronic filler.  Bellafill’s tiny, polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) microspheres are suspended within a base of smooth collagen gel. Once injected, the collagen gel immediately reduces the look of smile lines. Over time, your body uses the microspheres in Bellafill to create a “scaffold” onto which your own natural collagen can develop. Kybella is an FDA-approved nonsurgical treatment  for unwanted fat under the chin area.   Sue Cressel has injected Kybella frequently to reduce the excess fat beneath her patient’s chin providing a firmer, more appealing jawline.  Many people are bothered by a so-called double chin, technically submental fat that leads to unattractive fullness. Submental fat can be one of the most challenging types of fat to lose, since it typically does not respond to diet and exercise.  Kybella is an excellent option.

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy uses concentrated injections of a patient’s own platelets.    The patient’s blood is collected in a similar manner to having blood drawn for laboratory tests.  The vial is then placed in a centrifuge where platelets are separated, and the serum rich in platelets and growth factor are separated–this is called platelet rich plasma or PRP.    The PRP is then injected into tissue that has degenerated from age or disease.  It is used to treat a variety of skin conditions such as thinning hair, facial volume loss and uneven skin tone and texture.

InstaLift is a non-surgical, in-office procedure using threads composed of absorbable suture material to lift sagging skin of the face–primarily in the jawline and cheek areas.    InstaLift sutures will dissolve slowly over time. They do, however, have the benefit of stimulating new collagen growth in the area of placement, enhancing the subtle but visible lifting results of InstaLift.    The InstaLift may be what you are seeking if you have:

• Loss of facial structure in the mid and lower face
• Loose skin that sags around the mouth and jawline
• A desire to address the signs of aging without surgery

The most ideal candidates for the Silhouette InstaLift procedure have good skin elasticity and mild to moderate skin laxity, particularly of the jowls, jawline, and cheeks.   Extremely thin patients with decreased skin thickness may not be great candidates, as the sutures reside in the fat layer and safe placement in this case may be more challenging.

Hyperhydrosis (excessive sweating) occurs when a person experiences an abnormal amount of preparation not related to heat or exercise.   Botox® works  to block nerve signals responsible for sweating and stopping the glands from producing excess amounts of sweat.

Underarms, in particular, respond well.   Sweat glands on the hands and feet also respond well to Botox® injections.   However,  patients may find the injections themselves more painful on the hands and feet because there are an increased amount of  endings there.”
